Allah Ta’ala explains in the Qur’aan Majeed the niyyat which should motivate Sadqah. He states:
"(The Servants of Allah) feed the poor, the orphans and the prisoners only for His (Allah’s) Love." (aayat 8, Surah Ad-Dahr)
"(They - the servants of Allah, when they give Sadqah, say): "Verily, we feed you (the poor, the orphans and the prisoners) for only the sake of Allah. We do not intend to gain from you any reward nor any thanks." (aayat 9, Surah Ad-Dahr).
When spending in the Path of Allah Ta’ala there is an imperative need to fathom the motive for which Sadqah is given.
