VOL 16 NO 2: The 'Bicentennial' Farce

THE ‘BICENTENNIAL’ FARCE

A CELEBRATION OF FISQ AND FUJOOR

Recently a so-called ‘bicentennial’ function was organized by some misguided Muslims to celebrate what is said to be the "unbanning of Islam in 1804". Assuming that the evil function was in actual fact devoid of evil and immorality (fisq and fujoor),and it had been an assembly of only worship (ibaadat), then too, it would have been a haraam celebration.

In Islam there are no celebrations, no functions of gaieties, no functions of frivolity, show and ostentation. Being a Deen whose primary aim is to dissolve man’s ties with the dunya and to solidify and enhance his bond with Allah Ta’ala and the Aakhirah, Islam has no public functions and celebrations of frivolity. Lest the guilty miscreants who staged the haraam frivolities which they have dubbed, ‘bicentennial celebration’, display their ignorance by citing the Days of Eid and Walimah occasions, they, as Muslims, are supposed to know that none of these occasions is a celebration of frivolity —fisq and fujoor.

Both Eid Days are days of happiness and ibaadat. These are occasions on which the happiness is holy and for display in the privacy of the home. Customs of frivolity which ignorant people have introduced on the Days of Eid have no relationship with Islam.

The public assembly on the Days of Eid is restricted to pure Ibaadat (Eid Salaat) which is absolutely devoid of frivolity, stupid antics of the kuffaar, show, ostentation —fisq and fujoor— which were the ingredients of the haraam bicentennial baatil celebrations.

The Walimah is likewise an occasion of holy happiness totally without any acts of fisq and fujoor. It is an occasion of happiness to be observed with simplicitly as the Walimah occasions of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) and the Sahaabah testify. The baatil customs of fisq and fujoor associated in these days with so-called walimah functions have neither origin nor sanction in Islam.

THE EVIL

In Islam there is no anniversary, birthday, centennial, etc., celebration. There is not a single celebration of the kind which the kuffaar have innvovated. All celebrations which are in vogue are the introduction and practices of the kuffaar. Modernist and fussaaq (flagrant/immoral transgressors) aping the ways of the kuffaar see honour and glory

in the spiritually impure celebrations and functions of the kuffaar. Addressing these fussaaq, the Qur’aan Majeed states: "What, do you search for the law of Jaahiliyyah?" Answering its own question, the Qur’aan says: "Verily, all izzat belongs to Allah."

While the fussaaq search for honour and glory by emulating and aping the ways and customs of the kuffaar, Allah Ta’ala makes it abundantly and repeatedly clear that "all honour and glory" belong to only Allah Ta’ala. Hence if Muslims are desirous of gaining honour and glory, the only avenue is the Deen of Allah Ta’ala.

Besides this, every sane Muslim of average good Imaan will understand that a function which was cluttered with the variety of evils which were the salient features and highlights of the fisq and fujoor celebrations, has absolutely no admittance in Islam.

And, what type of celebration is this which professes to celebrate the "unbanning of Islam,", but which comprised of every such act which Islam bans?

THE CELEBRATION – UNBANNING HARAAM

By their conduct, the organizers of the evil un-Islamic celebrations have practically demonstrated their belief that what Allah Has made haraam is halaal for them. Let us now consider the acts of fisq and fujoor which were the highlights of the haraam celebration.

LADIES —Women attended the haraam celebration in droves. Numerous of them were dressed in evil, immoral, provocative kuffaar dress. Those women who call themselves Muslims appeared in tops and jeans with the sole intention of attracting the carnal gazes of males. About these women, Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said:

- "When a woman applies perfume and passes by a gathering of men, she is like an adulteress."

- "Many women who used to wear clothing on earth will be (resurrected) naked in Qiyaamah." (These are the women who wear see through and tight-fitting garments of kuffaar style).

-When a woman emerges from her home, Shaitaan casts evil looks at her (and lies in ambush)."

There are many Ahaadith of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) which severely condemns women of evil attitudes, evil styles and evil ways such as those who visited the haraam celebrations in their droves inspite of. TheQur’aan’s command:

"And, remain glued to your homes, and do not make an exhibition of yourselves like the displays of jaahiliyyah."

Among the displays of jaahiliyyah and immorality was the singing of young (baaligh) girls on the stage with a male shaytaan singer. This is an open display of zina organized and supported by the evil molvis and sheikhs who participated in this massive haraam event.

SEPARATE SEATING —– While the radio stations of shaitaan in their encouragement for women to ignore the

Qur’aanic command and attend the haraam celebrations, emphasized that there would be separate arrangements for women, this was a deliberate lie perpetrated to intentionally deceive simple-minded Muslims who are generally misled by the radio-molvis and the modernist molvis who are at the helm of such haraam affairs.

In fact, some of the miserable ladies who attended felt constrained to even chase away some men who encroached on "their area". But the "separate" arrangement was a farce of those who do not believe in Allah’s Law of Hijaab. Nevertheless, they seek to mislead the unwary and the simple-minded Muslims with their hollow talk of observance of separation. About such hypocrites, Hadhrat Abu Turaab (rahmatullah alayh) said:

"There is no kabeerah (major) sin like the statements of  rebellious (shaitaani) transgressors. Their words are totally devoid of reality (and truth)—their words are hollow."

This is an apt summing up of the radio gang of shayateenul ins (human devils). The talk of ‘separate’ seating for men and women was merely for public consumption—to hoodwink Muslims who are stupid enough to believe the deliberate lies which the radio shayaateen broadcast. Someone wrote:

"After a while the gathering became mixed—men sitting by the women. When the organizers said that it would be a separate gathering, it merely meant that men and women sat parallel in full view of each other. There was no partition or screen separating them."

Even if there had been a screen, the event with every stunt and antic of which it comprised would have remained haraam. But the lewdness and flagrant acts of haraam, aggravated the nature of the evil event.

THE VENUE —– The venue where the so-called ‘Islamic’ celebration was held was a kuffaar sports stadium —a place on which perpetually settles the ghadb (wrath) and la’nat (curse) of Allah Ta’ala. It was a gathering of misguided people who had assembled for giving free expression to lustful desires, hence it was imperative to choose a suitable venue for such moral villainy.

Muslim ladies —daughters of Islam— who are forbidden by Allah’s Shariah from attending even the Musjid for Fardh Salaat, were convinced by human shayaateen that it is an act of ‘ibaadat’ for them to parade in an evil venue making exhibitions of jaahiliyyah of themselves. once when a pious lady (a Sahaabiyyah) said that she loved to perform Salaat behind Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam), he responded:

"Your Salaat in the innermost corner of your rom is superior to your Salaat behind me in Musjide-Nabawi."

Let our sisters who participated so freely with nafsaani relish in these evil and haraam celebrations ponder and endeavour to understand the message Nabi-e-Kareem (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) had conveyed to the Muslim ladies of this Ummah.

KUFFAAR EXHIBITION —– Madrasahs and so-called Islamic schools, instructed their staff — apas and male teachers (supposedly maulanas)—to march with their respective banners to the stadium of shaitaan. Imagine apas (female Muslim teachers) marching like lewd women in the streets under banners —kuffaar style. To what a decadent ebb has the sisters of Islam sunk at the behest of evil so-called ulama who run these madrasahs and ‘islamic’ schools!!!

Muslim boys and girls were ordered to march kuffaar style with banners to the evil venue to celebrate what shaitaan had inspired into the hearts of the organizers of the haraam function.

SONGS —Songs, deceptively passed off as ‘islamic’ with the misnomer ‘nazams’, were sung by both girls and boys. The Akaabir Ulama have said that it is not permissible for males to listen to even Qur’aanic recitation by young girls. The voices of these young females were appropriated for committing zina of the mind and heart—and this too under the banner of Islam!!!

Let it be clearly understood that all these ‘nazams’ are haraam, be they so-called ‘Islamic’. They all fall within the scope of prohibited ghina. (Insha’Allah, this subject will be dealt with in a separate book in detail.)

SPEECHES—– Even young girls were trained by the evil molvis to cast aside all hayaa (shame and modesty) and express themselves shamelessly by giving speeches to the morally vulgar mobs who attended to find sensual gratification for the lowest dictates of the nafs.

RAP SONGS AND DANCING

Having sunk to the lowest ebb of moral degradation, even rap songs and dancing were considered ‘Islamic’ by the gang of evil molvis who had organized and participated in this evil event for which the entire Muslim community has to hang their heads in utter shame and disgrace.

Someone who had attended, but became disgusted with the evil events, writes:

"There was a rap song and the person moved the body like dancing—yes dancing. one lady in ‘purdah’ who attended told a young girl that rapping is halaal and that there is nothing wrong with it."

Every sane Muslim who is not even pious will recoil at this comment. Shaitaani and monkey antics which are clearly haraam are proclaimed halaal by shaitaani women under the aegis of evil molvis.

‘ULAMA’ PARTICIPATION

Commenting on the participation by a drove of evil molvis, a disgusted person writes:

"How is it possible that so many ulama (sic) took part in this? How could it ever be right? In fact, so many maulanas encouraged it."

While the writer expresses surprise on account of the attendance and participation of "so many maulanas" in a conspicuously evil and haraam event, there is really no surprise. There is only alarm and grief, for we are today witnessing the materialization in our midst of the following prediction of Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam):

"Soon there will dawn an age over people when there will remain nothing of Islam but its name there will remain nothing of the Qur’aan but its text. Their Musaajid will be beautifully adorned buildings while totally bereft of guidance. THEIR ULAMA WILL BE THE WORST (OF CREATION) UNDER THE CANOPY OF THE SKY. FITNAH WILL EMERGE FROM THEM, AND FITNAH WILL REBOUND on THEM."

These ‘ulama’-e-soo (evil learned men) such as those who supported and participated in the immoral kuffaar bicentennial celebrations will be hemmed in by their own fitnah and be utterly destroyed in both worlds. About such robbers of the community’s Imaan and Akhlaaq, the Qur’aan Majeed declares:

"They are losers in this world and the Aakhirah."

They commit moral and spiritual debauchery. They are exposing themselves with their flagrant participation in flagrant acts of immorality bordering on displays of zina. They not only condone, but actively promote discardence of Hijaab. They entice women to come out of their homes into the streets in flagrant violation of the Qur’aanic command for them to remain indoors. They not only entice women and young girls to emerge onto the streets in droves, but they even instigate them to perpetrate acts of moral turpitude.

It is most shocking that even a ‘khanqah’s’ representatives were present at such an event of moral and spiritual debauchery. It is utterly shocking that a maulana sahib who is supposed to be a sheikh of tasawwuf, sending a message of congratulations to the evil celebration. Truly, it has become abundantly conspicuous that the present state of abject moral degradation and spiritual retrogression of the Ummah are the consequences of the rot of the ‘ulama-e-soo’ who operate from the subterfuge of ‘khaanqahs’ and ‘madrasahs’.

THE ANTHEM —It is truly lamentable that Muslims under the directive of the ulama-e-soo’ have translated into Arabic the non-Muslim national anthem to give it ‘Islamic’ flavour. Muslims together with non-Muslim participants stood in a display of shirk ‘honour’ of the national anthem being sung. Like the bid’ati qabar pujaaris (grave-worshippers} stand in their moulood ceremonies, so did the participants of the evil celebration indulge in open shirk by standing in ‘honour’ of an imaginary ‘god’.

All those who had stood up on this occasion should make taubah, renew their Imaan as well as their Nikah. They lost their Imaan when they stood up to honour an imaginary ‘god’ —a figment of the imagination of non-Muslims. When a song is sung in praise of even Allah Azza Wa Jal, Muslims are not required to stand, and they do not stand on such occasions. Yet, the ulama-e-soo’ have constrained Muslims to flagrantly indulge in shirk at the haraam celebration.

Some human shayaateen are now even saying that the Arabic version of the anthem should be recited as a ‘dua’. Can Muslims sink to a lower level of spiritual decadence?

One Madrasah teacher who was also ordered by the management to attend, writes:

"What is so sad is that the children sing the anthem with much respect and reverence and with full concentration. But, ask them to recite the Qur’aan or a Surah or a Dua—then you will hear the litany of mistakes and see the lack of respect for the sacred Qur’aan. The respect which Muslim children are today showing to the anthem is not at all shown to the Qur’aan."

This deplorable state of affairs is to be laid squarely on the shoulders of the ulama-esoo’.

SOME MORE HIGHLIGHTS

The following acts are among the many haraam and kabeerah sins perpetrated under the name of Islam:

- A play on a fictitious Ark (Ship) of Hadhrat Nooh (alayhis salaam). This type of mockery has no share in the Culture of Islam. Who imitated Hadhrat Nooh (alayhis salaam) on the ‘ark’?

- Baaligh and near-baaligh girls sang songs —a practice which is among the kabaair (major sins). Muslim girls were induced to prostitute their voices and charms to ruin their modesty for the vulgar greed of the juhhala, fussaaq and fujjaar who participated in the haraam celebrations.

- Musical drums were played.

- The girls performed on the stage to provide gratification for the immoral nafsaaniyat of all the fussaaq Tom, Dicks and Harrys present. In terms of the Shariah this too is prostitution.

HAKIMUL UMMAT’S FATWA

Issuing a Fatwa on the question of participation in functions of the nature of the bicentennial celebrations, Hakimul

Ummat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thaanvi (rahmatullah alayh) said:

"The Religion of Islam does not give this permission (i.e. permission to participate). Un-Islamic shi-aar (salient acts) whether by word or deed, are major sins tantamount to (acts) in opposition to Islam. In brief, it is neither permissible to participate in such gatherings nor to honour this flag (of the country in this manner) nor to sing the national anthem, because Rasulullah (sallallahu alayhi wasallam) said: ‘Whoever, enhances the gathering of a people, becomes of them."

It is therefore Waajib for the People of Islam to remain aloof (of such functions). It is also improper for members of other religions to make such demands on Muslims. It is imperative for them to exempt Muslims."

(Imdaadul Fataawa, Page 647, Vol.4)

At the end of his Fatwa, Hakimul Ummat (rahmatullah alayh), commented: "In this reply (i.e. in the Fatwa) I have kept in view the aayat: ‘Do not insult the deities of those who call (worship) deities other than Allah….’ In fact, this issue (of the flag and the anthem) deserves a harsh response."

In this comment Hadhrat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (rahmatullah alayh) says that Islam views this sin of shirk, i.e. the acts of honouring/worshipping the flag and singing the anthem, in such a grave light that the need is for a stern and harsh rebuttal. However, since the Qur’aan forbids insulting the deities of others, he has refrained from employing harsh terms to decry these practices.

We hope that sincere Muslims who were misled by members of the ‘ulama-e-soo’ and other shayaateen in the community, have realized their folly and the gravity of their crime of participation. They should repent and make the necessary amends to restore their bond with Allah Ta’ala.

WHAT SHOULD THE PARTICIPANTS DO NOW?

Undoubtedly, participation in the type of celebration which was organized by misguided Muslims is haraam. Such participation is a major sin in Islam.

In addition to the sins of fisq and fujoor (evil and immorality), the crime of shirk was also committed, namely, standing and singing the anthem. This is a major sin in Islam in the same way as it is sinful and haraam to stand in honour of a flag, even if it is the flag and anthem of a Muslim country.

Refusal to stand for the country’s flag and/or to stand and sing the anthem are not motivated by disrespect for acts which are considered honourable by members of non-Muslim groups. This is purely a Deeni (religious) issue based on our beliefs— beliefs which the secular constitution of the country upholds or is supposed to vindicate.

Everyone understands and is aware that there is nothing more sacred to Muslims than the Qur’aan Majeed. But Muslims do not stand and are not required to stand when the Qur’aan is recited. Allah Azza Wa Jal is our Creator.

Muslims do not stand and are not required to stand when songs are sung in praise of Allah Ta’ala. This is sufficient to convince an unprejudiced, fair-minded person that when Muslims refuse to stand in respect for a flag or when the anthem is being sung, it does not imply disrespect. It is simply a demand of our Faith that we refrain from standing for such inanimate things and songs.

ANSAAB

The flags and anthems of countries, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, come within the scope of the prohibition of worshipping idols described as alansaab in the Qur’aan Majeed. Hakimul Ummat Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi (rahmatullah alayh), stated that the prohibition to stand for a flag and sing the anthem is within the ambit of the

Umoom (Generality) of the aayat:

"O People of Imaan! Verily, liquor, gambling, idols (alansaab) and arrows (of superstition are filth of the act of shaitaan, therefore abstain from it."

In terms of the country’s constitution which enshrines the principle of religious freedom, Muslims should be exempted from this type of worship which is tantamount to shirk in Islam.

SHIRK

In view of the shirk committed by the participants of the bicentennial celebrations, the consequences in terms of the Shariah are as follows:

- The shirk has eliminated the Imaan of the participants. In other words, they committed irtidaad, hence have become murtaddeen (renegades).

- Repentence is incumbent on the participants. They should repent, renew their Imaan by making the Declaration of Faith (Kalimah Shahaadat).

- They should renew their Nikah (marriage) because kufr and shirk terminate the Nikah bond. As long as the Nikah has not been renewed, the relationship will be an adulterous one.
